IRIS VENTURES (formerly AM-SHAV TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CENTER) was
founded in 1992 and operates as a Technological Incubator at
Midreshet Ben-Gurion in the Israeli Negev. The mission of IRIS
VENTURES is to support entrepreneurs by turning their advanced
technology-based ideas into high value economic products.
In 2007 the incubator was privatized and began operating within
the framework of Maayan Venturs (TASE: MAYN), which operation 3
technology incubators in the Negev area. IRIS VENTURES focuses on
IT (Information Technologies) and BlueTech (Water - related
technologies).
IRIS VENTURES provides a wide range of assistance in
administration, marketing, finance, exposure to investors, etc.
The incubation-like conditions are provided in order to enable
the new companies to achieve sound economic status, and become
independent and profitable within a period of two years.
Since its inception, IRIS VENTURES, has established over 40
start-up development companies, over 10 of which now operate
independently. During 2007, 4 companies matured from the
incubator, raised over $1 million each and started sales.
There are currently eight incubator projects at different stages
of development. By the end of 2006, the companies that had
graduated from the incubator recorded sales of over US $70
million. Incubator companies have thus far successfully raised
nearly US $170 million (of which $17 million in 2006, and nearly
$20 million in 2007) worth of equity investment, while one
company, Compugen Ltd., has successfully completed IPO in Nasdaq.
IRIS VENTURES is seeking strategic partners interested in
investing in its start-up companies and in conducting sales and
marketing activities of the new products. Entrepreneurs that have
