PROFILE
Ofakim Hi-tech Ventures - OHV (formerly known as - Ofakim
Innovative Technologies) is a technological incubator, founded in
1991 as a center for the development of Hi-tech enterprises.
In late 2002 OHV was one of the first technological incubators
that completed the privatization process.
OHV is held by a private holding company and is operating
according to an agreement with the Office of the Chief Scientist
of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour (OCS).
OHV welcomes both individuals and teams of entrepreneurs from
diverse fields and domains (including: medical devices,
biotechnology, electronics, information and Internet technology,
manufacturing systems and materials engineering) to apply and
submit their proposals.

PRELEMINARY CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTENCE
1. Innovative and new technology owned by the entrepreneurs.
2. Intellectual property (IP) is defendable (patentability).
3. Development is feasible within less then two years.
4. Clear understanding as to the market needs it applies to.
5. Willingness to carry out the development phase at OHV
facilities.
6. Dedication to the project and aptness for teamwork.

OHV MISSION
* Induce early stage ventures originated by individuals or teams
of entrepreneurs, to become market oriented attractive companies.
* Promote the technology-based industries in Israel, and in its
southern parts in particular, by turning R&D projects into
successful business stories.
* Cultivate and promote wealth of Israel's southern region by
enabling the establishment of new companies, providing new and
challenging research and work opportunities.

FINANCIAL STRUCTURE
The companies that operate within the framework of the incubator
receive a total of 85% of their funding from the OCS. The
remaining 15% (a.k.a. complementary funds) come from private
investors (or from the entrepreneurs themselves). In exchange,
the private investors receive equity in the project.
The development efforts are aimed to bring the projects to a
stage where they become attractive for strategic-partners or
investors, capable of providing resources for the conversion of
the venture into a business enterprise, to join and invest in
them.
