PROJECT SUMMARY
In December 2002, D-Herb Ltd, a start-up company in Nazareth,
Israel was formed, based on a hitherto not exploited approach to
diabetes, using extracts of unique indigenous plants of the
Galilee area in Israel.
The company's main objective is as follows: The evaluation of
traditional herbal medicine products for their potential as
modern drugs.

The mandate of D-Herb Ltd. is to develop herbal products for
various medicinal applications along two main routes. Initially,
the product will be evaluated and tested as a nutritional
supplement, and also produced and marketed as such. At the same
time, the product will be evaluated as a potential pharmaceutical
product and the necessary steps will be taken to obtain the
scientific data required to perform clinical trials on humans and
further the pharmaceutical development.

The first product that D-Herb has under investigation is an
herbal extract which causes a lowering of glucose levels in the
bloodstream of diabetic patients and also stabilizes the glucose
level.

PROJECT STATUS
* D-Herb Ltd. has developed a product for the reduction and
stabilization of glucose levels in the blood of diabetes type 2
patients, based on a well-known local plant, which has not been
previously commercially exploited.
* D-Herb Ltd. has identified two separate routes through which
the herbal extract exerts its influence on the metabolism of
glucose. Absorption of glucose through the small intestine into
the bloodstream is significantly reduced, while at the same time,
the transport of glucose from the bloodstream through the cell
membrane and into the cell is increased. Both of these actions
reduce glucose levels in the bloodstream and the combined
operation of this "Dual-Action" mechanism may contribute to the
stabilization of glucose levels.
* A clinical trial (double-blind and placebo-controlled) has been
completed with good results.
* D-Herb Ltd. is engaged in an intensive effort to isolate,
purify and identify the active ingredients in the herbal extract,
as a first step towards pharmaceutical development. A number of
molecules of biological importance have already been isolated and
their activity in the "Dual-Action" mechanism is under
investigation.
* A production process for the nutraceutical product, including
QA/QC procedures has been completed.
* The nutraceutical Product will be marketed within the coming
months.

A PCT application on the "Dual-Action" mechanism, whereby the
extract has an effect on two separate stages in the glucose
metabolism was submitted.

A Trademark application covering the U.S. and Israel ihas been
approved.
