PROJECT SUMMARY
MEDIVUR LTD. is a medical device start-up company. Company's goal
is to develop a disposable multifunctional catheter for effective
treatment of PPH (Post Partum Hemmorage), bleeding following the
BPH (Bening Prostatic Hyperplasia) surgery and blood stoppage in
arteries during vascular procedures.

The technology is based on creating a negative pressure between
the balloons of the multifunctional catheter, inserted into
various hollow organs in the body, for creation of secure and
leak-proof fixation. The catheter also allows drug delivery into
operation zone.

Initially MEDIVUR will concentrate on development of the blood
occlusion catheter to be used instead of regular vascular clamps.
In ~10% of vascular surgeries (more that 1M procedures are
performed in US annually) the regular clamps can not be used
because of excessive calcification of the blood vessel, trauma to
the blood vessel wall, too deep location of the vessel and its
short length. In these cases Medevice Catheter can provide a
simple and effective solution making the surgery feasible. The
catheter is expected to be very competitive in this market
segment because of its leak-proof and secure connection also in
smooth lumen of the blood vessels.

ADVANTAGES
The proposed catheter system offers several advantages:
* Hemostasis and fixation of the device are done in single step,
by application of negative pressure. The catheter is simple and
convenient for use.
* The vacuum applied, creates very reliable fixation even with
smooth vessel wall.
* The collapse of blood vessels due to negative pressure stops
all regional blood flow.
* There is no need for exposure of external vascular wall. There
is no need to have an access to external wall of the hollow
organ.
* No expansion of the organ - on the contrary - the organ is
collapsed, so the risk of enlarging the injury is minimal.
* The catheter is multifunctional, allowing secure fixation, drug
delivery, fluids suction (blood/urine) through the device and
diagnosis of bleeding location.
* The catheter prevents clots formation in the post-operative
zone thus no rinsing is required

PROJECT STATUS
MEDIVUR operates in the framework of the Yozmot HaEmek
Technological Incubator as of April 1, 2007.
The company is currently in the development process of the
catheter. Initial prototypes were designed, manufactured and
successfully tested in feasibility animal trials. During 2 year
period the company plans to complete the development of the
advanced prototype, perform technical, laboratory and animal
trials to prove product's safety and efficacy and prepare for the
human clinical trials.
