Project title: STABLE WATER IN DIESEL FUEL EMULSIONS USING ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGY
Company name : NANO-EM
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Chemistry
KEY WORDS
Emulsion, Ultrasound
PROJECT SUMMARY
Emulsions are defined as a mixture of two non-miscible phases.
The smaller the particles the more stable the emulsion. Reduction
of the particle size can be attained by a number of processes
that produce a turbulent stream, which leads to formation of
small bubbles (cavitation). The principle underlying all of these
processes is the mixing of the incompatible liquids by breaking
the homogenous phase into tiny drops of large surface area.
Today's processes are mechanical and there is a paramount need to
develop an innovative technology that will lead to production of
stable emulsions at the nano-size level.
Nano-Em will develop a technology based on the use of
high-powered ultrasound waves to produce cavitation.
APPLICATIONS
Transportation fuel for light and heavy vehicles and ships.
Stationery motors, domestic and industrial heating.
ADVANTAGES
* More complete combustion and higher thermal detonation
* Less CO and NOx pollution, less soot emissions
* Lower maintenance expenses
* Economically more thrifty
* Increased fuel utilization.
