PROJECT SUMMARY
BIOHUG TECHNOLOGIES LTD. is developing wearable, portable calming
system for people with autism, ADHD and related conditions.
This device uses the well established treatment modalities of
deep pressure touch and pulsation to produce a calming effect.
Although other devices, like the Temple Grandin "squeeze
machine", use deep pressure touch, few, if any, are both easily
portable and non-restraining. The device is a vest which
delivers mildly pulsating pressure through the use of cells
placed throughout the garment. It is small and light enough to
be carried in a knapsack and could be used virtually anywhere.
The wearer is not restrained in any way, and can remove it at
will. The device will be self-regulating, based on biometric
measures of stress. Although the company has not yet performed
rigorous clinical trials, anecdotal evidence from the use of
prototypes at hostels in Israel suggests that the device does
indeed have a calming effect on the wearer.

After 14 months of operation, an advanced working prototype has
been developed. The company expects to begin initial clinical
trials within two months. The company has received significant
positive feedback from parents and caretakers around the world on
the basis of articles published about the project.
