PROJECT SUMMARY
ARIO MEDICA is a start up company developing a minimally invasive
system designated ARIO (Apparatus for Removing Intra-luminal
Occlusions) for safely and effectively excising and removing
plaque in peripheral arteries both from partially and totally
occluded arteries (CTO - chronic total occlusion).

The innovation in ARIO lies in the combination of three essential
elements: unique mechanics and blade design combined with an
imaging guidewire and positioning balloons. These elements
enable the physician to see the occlusion, aim and position the
cutting head and excise the plaque. The debris are aspirated
outside the body.
Since the guidewire is not required for crossing the occlusion,
the ARIO device is also suitable for opening CTOs.
The device's features enable quick and safe plaque removal with
minimum damage to the artery wall.

ENTREPRENEURS
Mr. Arieh Sher - Mechanical
engineer having vast experience with high-tech companies.
Dr. Talia Sher - Ph.D. in
biology from the Weizmann Institute, Israel.
Mr. Ofer Bengal - Manager, a
successful executive with over 20 years of managerial experience
in various fields including medical devices.

PROJECT STATUS
The project began its incubator period in November 2005. A
prototype for in-vitro testing of ARIO has been designed and
manufactured. Mechanical proof-of-concept was demonstrated in
2006 and preliminary in vivo trials were carried out in 2007.

BUDGET: The company has raised US $500K from the Israeli OCS and
Rad Biomed Incubator.

COOPERATION REQUIRED
The company is presently seeking to raise additional $3M to reach
"first in man".
The Company is looking for a strategic partnership with one of
the leading cardiovascular device manufacturers.
