TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Ophthalmic Chirurgical Tools
KEY WORDS
Retinal Vein Occlusion
(RVO), CRVO, Ophthalmic Chirurgical Tools, Stainless Steel
Micro-Cannula, T-PA, Thrombolytic Agents
PROJECT SUMMARY
Understanding that the most efficient way to treat RVO and other
ocular diseases and disorders, is through direct delivery of
therapeutic agents to the retinal blood vessels, Microvascular
Eye Technology (MET) has designed and developed, MicroCan. This
proprietary device consists of a stainless steel cannula that is
less than 100 microns in diameter. It is specially curved to
allow retinal surgeons to maneuver within the confines of the eye
and precisely sharpened to allow penetration of the very small
retinal veins. MicroCan enables surgeons direct delivery of
fibrinolytic agents into the veins to treat RVO. Antibiotics and
other drugs to treat ocular infections and tumors can also be
administered.
MicroCan will enable successful treatment of a variety of ocular
diseases and disorders, greatly reducing the incidence of vision
deterioration and blindness.
ADVANTAGES
Safe and reliable MicroCan tool for the treatment of RVO and
other ocular disease and disorders. MET's strength lies in it R&D
capabilities and the expert medical team that supports it.
