Project title: LARVICIDAL GRANULES FOR MOSQUITO AND BLACK FLIES CONTROL
Company name : ALICOM BIOLOGICAL CONTROL LTD.
CONTROL LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Agriculture, Environment
KEY WORDS
Mosquito Control
PROJECT SUMMARY
The proposed product mission is to leverage fibrous industrial
discharge and innovative granulation technology to advance a
portfolio of effective agricultural and environmental safe
products that will be marketed worldwide.
The initial product is an innovative, sustained release, biocide
for mosquito control that can play a major role in integrated
mosquito vector management programs such as BTI.
The improved anti mosquito granules are derived by blending a by
product of short cellulose fibers from the paper industry sludge
and recycled pulp or other fibrous plant by-products with a
natural bacteria, which produce a larvicidal protein, with
specific additives to produce a slurry. The homogeneous slurry is
agglomerated to evaporate excess water.
The end product is a dust free granule loaded with active
mosquito larvicide. The granules resemble a clay granule in all
respects except for its chemical inertness and strength inherited
from the cellulose fibers. The additives are selected from by
products like corncob or peanut shell particles, which create a
floating granule, needed for sustained activity in the mosquito
habitats.
