PROJECT SUMMARY
MEDVISION LTD. (formerly MELA-SCAN) is an identification and
monitoring system for melanomas. The system is designed for the
use of physicians and dermatologists in order to successfully
identify and monitor suspicious looking moles and birthmarks.
Existing systems lack the ability to fully identify and monitor
skin anomalies that can lead to the development of cancerous
diseases.

Over one million Americans have been diagnosed having skin cancer
in 1999. 40,000 of them have been diagnosed as having melanoma,
the most severe form of skin cancer.

The importance of an early diagnosis of melanoma raises from the
fact that a life expectancy of 5 years and more has been found
for those patients that melanoma has been identified at the very
early stage. In a later stage, when the melanoma has spread on a
skin region, life expectancy of 5 years drops to 60% dropping
further to 15% at distant metastasis.
