Project title: DEVICE FOR MONITORING AND IMPROVING ALERTNESS

Company name : *** VIGILANT LTD.

TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Human Behavior, Electronic
Monitoring

KEY WORDS
Alertness, Drowsiness,
Fatigue, Recognition, Vigilance

PROJECT SUMMARY
An effective device for monitoring and improving alertness has
been developed. It can be adapted to highway car driving,
security tasks and others. The user is required to undergo simple
tests, concurrently with his main activities. The device
administers carefully designed stimuli (audible, visual or
tactile) and assesses the user's "perceptual-sensory" vigilance
and his cognitive abilities through the accuracy and the time
delay of his responses. The tests are initiated randomly and
periodically (several minutes): when the alertness deteriorates,
the device increases the rate of test administration and the
intensity of the stimulation signals, thereby improving the
alertness of the user.
The user is not connected to any sensor.

PROJECT STATUS
The incubation period ended in June 1995.
Prototypes of a hand held device have been completed. The
prototype for the car driving application has been developed. The
effectiveness of the VIGILANT method has been demonstrated in
extensive tests performed on prototypes.
A Beta-site program is underway.
An application for patent was submitted.

COOPERATION REQUIRED
VIGILANT is looking for an investment or for a strategic partner
with international marketing capabilities. The investment will be
recouped in approximately two years.
