PROJECT SUMMARY
NEUROSONIX is a medical device company focused on the protection
of the brain during open-heart surgery and other cardiological
procedures, such as Percutaneous Cardiological Intervention (PCI)
and angiography.

The NeuroGuard system utilizes the so-called "Acoustic Radiation
Force" which is the force exerted by traveling ultrasonic waves
on particles dispensed in ambient liquid, in order to manipulate
emboli flowing in the arterial blood stream. Designed as to
become an integral part of all open-heart procedures as well as
other cerebral emboli-generating therapeutic and diagnostic
procedures such as PCI and Angiography, the system represents a
revolutionary generic concept of cerebral protection.

The system will incorporate several protection layers aimed at
eliminating all types of emboli, gaseous, fat and solid
particles, generated throughout the procedure, including
extra-corporeally eliminating emboli from oxygenated blood
arriving from the heart-lung machine and non-invasively
eliminating "autologous" cerebral emboli, i.e. emboli originating
within the patient's body.
The NeuroGuard system will be designed modularly, in such a way
that full system configuration will be employed in open-heart
surgery, while partial configuration, containing only the
non-invasive protection layer, will be employed in non-surgical
procedures such as PCI.
