Project title: CATALYTIC CONVERTER

Company name : CATALYTECH LTD.

TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Material Engineering, Coating
Technologies

KEY WORDS
Catalytic Converter,
Exhaust, Car Engine, Air Pollution, Environmental Protection

PROJECT SUMMARY
Cars are a main source of pollution.
Today's catalytic converters, which only work at a fairly high
temperature, produce 60-80% of vehicle emissions while the
catalytic converter is heating up. When the car's engine is in
the "cold start" phase, the catalytic converter does almost
nothing to reduce the pollution in the exhaust.

Another serious drawback of today's catalytic converters is their
reliance on very expensive precious metals such as platinum,
palladium and rhodium. Automakers around the world tend to use
ever more precious metals in catalytic converters to meet
increasingly stringent emissions regulations while vehicle
manufacturers are interested in economizing on the use of
precious metals as much as possible. There is a continual effort
to design more efficient catalysts using less precious metals.

Catalytic Converter is developing a new high-performance low
cost, three-way catalytic converter for use in internal
combustion (IC) engines. The proprietary technology consists of
depositing low-cost materials on metal and/or ceramic substrates.
The catalytic converter is expected to significantly reduce HC,
CO and NOx emissions.

ADVANTAGES
* Decreased cost of catalytic converters while complying with the
most stringent car emissions standards.
* Lower Cold-Start Emissions (Improved Light-Off) thus allowing
for more effective and faster operation of the converter.
* Significant reduction of the HC, CO and NOx that leave the
tailpipe in the "cold start" phase.
* No need to use expensive precious metals.

MARKET
The total global market for catalytic converters is estimated at
about 100 million units per year. New vehicles and trucks
constitute the principal target market for Catalytech.
Converter's technology. The annual target market size is
estimated at approximately 50 million vehicles and trucks.
The startup company will be a developer of unique
polyoxometalate-based coating techniques for the catalytic
converter market, as well as for other catalyst systems. The
Company will sell and/or license the proposed technology to
manufacturers of catalytic converter substrates or automakers
worldwide.
