Project title: VACUUM INSULATION PANELS
Company name : THERMO-VAC LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Thermal Insulation
KEY WORDS
Insulation, Thermal
Insulation, Vacuum Insulation Panels, VIP, Refrigeration
PROJECT SUMMARY
THERMO-VAC is developing an advanced form of thermal insulation,
based on vacuum as an insulating medium (much like the Dewar's
Flask or Thermos). Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) have been
present on the market for more than 10 years, but have not yet
achieved cost efficiency nor do they possess long term
reliability. Still they are expected to become the new generation
insulating method. The common approach is a foamed material
enclosed in a barrier film and vacuum applied.
THERMO-VAC VIP is based on an altogether different technological
approach. To assess the validity of this technology a powerful
computerized simulation has been designed and different
configurations tested.
THERMO-VAC VIP is expected to achieve the following results:
* Insulating capabilities much superior to common insulating
materials, superior also to known VIP's
* Smaller wall thickness: 2-3 cm
* Proven long term reliability
* Cost-efficiency.
* Possibility of various configurations for different
applications
MARKET
Refrigeration equipment includes: storage rooms of various sizes,
refrigerated transport vehicles for both land and overseas
transport, retail display cabinets, domestic refrigeration,
vending machines and more. All these bodies are insulated, the
most common insulation being foamed Polyurethane. This is a huge
international market. Any specific application has it's own
priorities as regards necessary insulation value, wall thickness,
weight etc. Improvement in all or some of these criteria is
expected to meet a very receptive market, provided
cost-efficiency and long-term reliability can be delivered.
Several configurations to meet specific demands of different
applications will be considered.
ENTREPRENEUR
Mr. David Resnick
PROJECT STATUS
Preliminary work with the above mentioned computerized simulation
and market research to evaluate the most productive line of
development had been conducted.
Prototype has been completed and laboratory experiments for the
examination of the thermal characteristics had begun.
A provisional patent application has been submitted to the
American Patent Office.
COOPERATION REQUIRED
Investment and strategic partnership are sought.
