Project title: MBR-BASED WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT FOR SMALL COMMUNITIES
Company name : BIOMEM LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Waste Water Treatment, Environment
KEY WORDS
Waste Water Treatment,
Recycled Wastewater, Membrane, Separation, Membrane Bio-Reactor,
MBR
PROJECT SUMMARY
BIOMEM LTD. is developing a unique technology to provide high
quality recycled wastewater at an enormous cost advantage. The
company's advanced, compact and efficient system will treat the
waste of communities of up to 5000 inhabitants.
The core of this system is a Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR). At the
start of the process the water undergoes coarse separation
(primary treatment) in a pre-treatment tank, and sedimentation.
The water then moves to the modular system. In the Module two
processes are carried out in parallel: a biological process that
gathers together the solids and reduces the solid content in
water. An ultrafiltration process that consist in a physical
separation using hollowfibers membranes - water from the Module
goes through the membranes to a pipe into the tank of treated
(purified) water.
ADVANTAGES
* Requires less than 70% of the space of conventional systems.
* Fast installation at low costs.
* Low operation and maintenance costs.
* Handles urban waste in difficult conditions.
* Particularly high biomass concentration (5-7 times) and sludge
age (SRT) of 35-360 days.
* Creates very small amounts of sludge, 10% - 15% of the amount
generated by conventional systems (active sludge, NBR, SRT).
* Supplies treated wastewater of an extremely high quality.
* Advanced automatic, computer control.
MARKET
* Local authorities, water authorities and waste treatment bodies
* Industrial plants
* End-users of purified waste water (agriculturalists, sports
establishments, etc.)
