PROJECT SUMMARY
The company is developing their proprietary technology for
magnesium alloy extrusions. The technology will, for the first
time, allow cost effective production of automotive, magnesium
alloy, tubular parts, which are required by motor vehicle
manufacturers. The primary drive for use of extruded tubular
products in the vehicle is the need to increase the stiffness of
the structure, while at the same time to reduce body weight,
improve handling and also save fuel and reduce harmful emissions.
While aluminum is rapidly replacing steel in the motor industry,
nowadays, magnesium is the next generation material that will
replace aluminum and steel.

* Part consolidation (more pieces can be manufactured in one
operation from a hollow component).
* Weight reduction through more efficient section design and
tailoring of the wall thickness
* Improved structural strength and stiffness
* Lower tooling cost due to fewer parts
* Fewer secondary operations (no welding of sections)
* Tight dimensional tolerances and low spring back.
* Less assembly parts.
* Higher vehicle recycling percentage.

APPLICATIONS
AND TARGET MARKETS
Replacement of steel and aluminum extrusions, initially in the
automotive industry, and thereafter in the metal industry at
large.

ENTREPRENEUR
Mr. Oded Dahan - B.Sc., experience in
Engineering and Metallurgy, net shape production, planning and
designing replacement of machine components by wrought parts made
mainly of steel and aluminum.

PROJECT STATUS
A cooperation arrangement has been entered with the university of
Stuttgart.
