PROJECT SUMMARY
The proposed coatings are based on hydrophobic aggregates. The
beneficial properties of these hydrophobic aggregates are the
complete repulsion of water with concurrent free convective
transport of air and water vapor through their pores, enabling
effective ventilation and maintaining dryness of enclosures and
buildings. The coatings are based on inexpensive local
aggregates, like coal ash, porcellanite and others. These
aggregates are surface-treated with minor quantities of
commercially available hydrophobic fume silica. The product may
be used for private and industrial roof and wall coating, such as
in residences and public structures, shelters, parking areas,
garages, industrial floors and gasoline stations. Introduction of
the hydrophobic aggregates into the sealing field is extremely
innovative principally due to the usage of inexpensive local
aggregates as the leading raw material. The process is
environmentally friendly due to use of waste aggregates and the
technological process.
