PROJECT SUMMARY
Rear end collisions constitute a significant contributor to the
increasing number of road accidents. They occur due to driver's
unawareness and to lack of safe distance information.
CALSYS is a low-cost, robust collision avoidance system designed
specifically to solve this problem. The system is non-interactive
and autonomous, requiring no driver in-course intervention. It
serves as a defensive system, in line with defensive driving
philosophy i.e. it is installed in vehicles that desire
protection. The alert essentially explores the trailing vehicle
driver's instinctive behavior providing him or her with a
sufficient time margin to react with little or no susceptibility
to a panic reaction.

PROJECT STATUS
The project is at the end of its second year of the incubator
period. Prototype development stage. USA PAT. No 5684474. The
company is cooperating with a leading international strategic
partner.
