PROJECT SUMMARY
The company's mission is to develop ultra-stable enzymes and
enzyme based processes for various commercial applications on a
contract basis. Its focus is on development of enzymes for use in
the bulk and fine chemical industries (as biocatalysts), - the
recycling
and remediation industries, the feed and food industries, and the
diagnostics industry.
The ultra-stable nature of the company's enzyme products is due
to their isolation from microbes, which live in extreme
environments and produce suitably adapted enzymes. The finished
enzyme products are produced as recombinant proteins in more
hospitable microorganisms to ensure commercially feasible
production.

PROJECT STATUS
The company finished its incubator period in May 1999.

Activities of the following 5 enzymes from an extreme thermophile
(living at 85øC) were isolated during the incubator period:
* Alcohol dehydrogenase - for bio-catalysis.
* DNA ligase - for diagnostics (LCR technique).
* Glucose dehydrogenase - for diagnostics and bio-catalysis.
* Glutamate dehydrogenase - for diagnostics .
* Alkaline phosphatase - for diagnostics.

The company is presently functioning as a contract developer of
enzymes and enzyme-based processes. Projects to date include
development of enzyme based recycling processes, enzymatic
biocidal cleansers, and enzyme based processes for saccharide
conversions.

COOPERATION REQUIRED
Strategic partners are being sought for further product
development, production, marketing and further R&D.
