PROJECT SUMMARY
VACCIGUARD is developing a platform technology based on
proprietary peptides derived from HSP-60 (Heat Shock Protein-60).
HSP-60 is a chaperone/stress protein that sends powerful signals
to the immune system, especially at sites of inflammation and
stress.

When these proprietary peptides are linked with poor immunogenic
antigens, such as carbohydrates and peptides, they result in
remarkably effective vaccines that form long-lasting IgG
antibodies and generate protection. In some cases there is no
need for additional adjuvants (substances added to a vaccine to
enhance the immune response to an antigen) or boosters.

VACCIGUARD's technology was developed by world-renowned
immunologist Prof. Irun Cohen and his colleagues.

MARKET
The global vaccine market today is estimated at US$11 billion. It
is expected to grow 10% year, reaching US$17 billion in 2010.

The current market for meningitis is more than US$1 billion; for
streptococcus pneumoniae, about $1.5 billion. The WNV market is
estimated at US$400 million.

Prof. Irun Cohen - M.D., Ph.D.,Chief
Scientist, inventor, a world-renowned immunologist and professor
of immunology at the Weizmann Institute of Science and developer
of several highly original and innovative immunological concepts.

PROJECT STATUS
VacciGuard's proof of concept has been demonstrated in relevant
mouse models with five different pathogens: salmonella typhi,
streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitis type B, West Nile
Virus (WNV) and Murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV). The company plans
to initiate its first clinical study within two years.

The company has received two patents protecting conjugations with
p458 analogues. It has applied for a PCT patent protecting viral
antigens covalently linked to p458 and EC-27 and a provisional
patent meningococcus type B and C vaccine.
