PROJECT SUMMARY
BIOPACK develops innovative insect-repellent packaging and
materials for the food industry and for agricultural and pest
control uses. BIOPACK's materials are based on natural additives
that are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA. The
materials are integrated into flexible packaging using special
techniques that grew out of the company's intensive R&D efforts.

Flexible packaging with BIOPACK's technology prolongs storage
time and shelf life and reduces the amount of foodstuffs that
must be removed from the shelf - increasing both manufacturer and
customer satisfaction. The BIOPACK seal assures consumers that
the food inside is safe from contamination or infestation by
insects from the outside.

ENTREPRENEURS
Mr. Shmuel Shatsky - Founder and CEO,
extensive experience in the packaging industry. CEO of
Global-Roto Sheka, a leading Israeli manufacturer of flexible
packaging.
Prof. Fadel Mansour - Founder and Senior
Scientific Leader, is an agricultural entomologist whose
specialty is insect management and biopesticides from plants. A
senior researcher at Volcani/ARO.
Prof. Shlomo Navarro - Founder and Senior
Scientific Leade, is an agricultural entomologist and principal
researcher at Volcani Center Agricultural Research Organization
(Volcani/ARO). Specializes in post-harvest protection of durable
commodities with an emphasis on insect control and storage
engineering technology.

PROJECT STATUS
BIOPACK joined MTC in September 2001and since then had finished
the incubator period and operates independently.

Laboratory and industrial tests at pilot sites with the flexible
packaging material have been successful, and the company has
begun sales of its first product - shelf-liner to repellants.
The company holds sole rights on one patent and has a second
patent pending.
