PROJECT SUMMARY
Development of a new generation of medical instruments for
laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures and surgery, that include
baskets and extractors designed for concurrent fixing and (if
necessary) crushing a stone with an electric discharge in a
single cycle, as well as knifes and scalpels for resectotomy of
strictures, polyps etc., made from super elastic alloys with
shape memory.
The developed product is a new generation instrument -
lithoextractor-triptor, equipped with additional endoscopic
instruments based on super elastic alloys with the shape memory
effect, such as loops, knifes, etc.

TECHNOLOGY
The proposed instrument features the use of a modern nanosecond
electrical discharge technology for crushing of solid
dielectrics, as well as modern super elastic materials with shape
memory effect and a unique design basket-trap. Such combination
of properties allows for extracting stones of any size and shape
in a single cycle, regardless of their location. The estimated
price of such an instrument may be quite low, within the reach
for any urology department.

PROJECT STATUS
The project hss finished its incubation period.
A pilot instrument is available. Its efficiency was proved with a
urinary system model.
The stone capture and fixation system proved to be very efficient
in clinical trials with 60 patients, which were subjected to
stones extraction.
In model tests the crushing time of urology stones 4-6mm in
diameter was 30-60 sec.
