Project title: ROLLABLE CORRUGATED PLASTIC SHEETS
Company name : GAL-GAG
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Extrusion process, Lamination, Plastic
corrugation
KEY WORDS
Corrugated Plastic Sheets,
Extrusion
PROJECT SUMMARY
Development of a new technology for creating flexible plastic
sheets, with lateral corrugations, for covering roofs, up to 2m
wide and of unlimited length.
The direction of the profiles (corrugations) across the width of
the sheet instead of lengthwise gives it flexibility.
Raw materials: PVC and polycarbonate as customary at present. It
is possible to apply additional materials using this innovative
technology, such as polypropylene, recycled polypropylene, and
high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
TECHNOLOGY
The sheet is manufactured in a process of extrusion, co-extrusion
and lamination, with simultaneous processing by pressure, vacuum
and cooling while passing between formative rollers.
The sheet reaches the rollers as a semi-molten material directly
from the extruder or as a result of heating. Then, under-pressure
is activated between the formative rollers, giving the sheet its
form, and cooling that stabilizes this form.
The process is performed continuously as the material passes
between the rollers.
