PROJECT SUMMARY
The Digital Needle Driver (DND) is an application of Urogyn's
technological platform to the treatment of female Urinary
Incontinence, a problem that affects about 40% of women. The
device is a miniature needle driver, used in a simple ambulatory
procedure to elevate the bladder neck toward the hipbone, thereby
correcting the anatomical defect that is responsible for most
cases of female urinary incontinence. Clinical trails have shown
that the device can also be used successfully to correct vaginal
prolapse.

ADVANTAGES
* Treats UI as effectively as the most effective alternative
treatment.
* Can be performed in the clinic by a gynecologist or by an
urologist with a minimal expertise.
* Eliminates the need for abdominal incisions, general
anesthesia, and hospitalization.
* Allows immediate recovery.
* Reduces complications to a minimum.
* Lowers the costs of effective surgical treatment by 80%-90%
* Offers a solution to many women for whom other surgical
procedures are too risky and/or expensive.

MARKET
The annual costs of treatment for urinary incontinence are
estimated to be US $16 billion in the USA alone. Because of the
remarkable safety and cost-effectiveness of the DND, the
procedure will replace the leading surgical procedures in a vast
majority of cases.
Overall, the relevant market for the DND is estimated at 6
million women in the USA alone and 12 million women worldwide.

PROJECT STATUS
The first generation prototype has been tested in two hospitals
in Israel, and the second prototype is now being manufactured.
IRB (Institutional Review Board) approvals have been obtained for
clinical trials at two hospitals in the USA. Additional R&D
activities aim at further miniaturization of the devices on the
one hand, and at widening the range of applications on the other.
Israeli patent pending. A PCT application has been submitted.

COOPERATION REQUIRED
UROGYN is currently seeking an investment of US $2 million that
will allow it to complete the development and marketing
activities needed to launch its technological platform.
