PROJECT SUMMARY
The Internet provides huge amounts of valuable professional
information, yet existing tools fail to empower the user to
discover this information and to use it to generate true business
value. Search tools are based on keywords and not on semantic
concepts, there are no actual tools to receive focused updates on
subjects of interest, and no applications to derive the essence
of textual information to create key analytics.
An emerging set of technologies aims to structure and standardize
web information and make it more standardized and usable, thus
creating the next generation of the World Wide Web, yet there is
no clear direction how to apply these technologies while still
there is a large gap between the true value of information on the
web and the benefits that users can actually receive.

Data Essence's research engine creates and maintains a structured
semantic representation of the connections and relations between
the central entities within a given domain. This semantic map is
leveraged to give the user highly relevant personalized insights
and information services, that include conceptual data feeds,
advanced tools to analyze this structured information and provide
answers for a new level of inquiries within the domain.
This new level of information access is enabled by the use of
Semantic Technologies, which allows the representation and
analysis of factual information within a structured database.
Data Essence also uses Text Engineering technologies to process
text into this structured representation, and learning mechanisms
to constantly improve information relevancy.

Several semantic web and semantic search companies are trying to
create search engines or information services that are based on
semantic analysis of the web. These services are attempting to
analyze every existing type of textual information, and are not
focused on a particular domain, and thus their results supply
only a minor improvement over existing solutions, and provide
limited applicability over this data.
Within the domain of choice, Data Essence competes with standard
information and analytics suppliers.

PROJECT STATUS
The company was established on June, 2006, and entered the
incubator on September, 2007.
Data Essence is currently developing the first version of the
research engine.
