PROJECT SUMMARY
NiliMed has invented a unique technology that will serve as the
basis for developing an innovative insulin pump, namely a passive
pump device.
Diabetes is a major public health problem in the industrialized
world and is rapidly becoming a problem in developing countries.
The American Diabetes Association (ADA) estimates that 17 million
people suffer from diabetes in the United States, more than 1
million of whom are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
The proposed Passive Pump technology has all the qualities to
become new market standard, due to increased reliability and
drastically reduced costs. It is the first step toward an
ultimate drug delivery implantable device.
