PROJECT SUMMARY
Octopus is a remote Environment Control System (ECS) primarily
intended for the physically challenged. The Octopus was invented
to solve the accessibility problem for those who suffer from
physical or mental disorders and are incapable or experiencing
difficulties performing simple daily actions or tasks. The system
will help those communities to overcome the gap that exists
between the man and machine in their special life situation while
providing them with both physical and medical security. Octopus
is capable of operating potentially any appliances commonly found
in user environments (houses, offices, etc). These include power
line appliances (lights, fan, heater, etc.) and infrared driven
appliances (TV, VHF, AC, etc.), as well as communication aids:
phone calls, "nurse calls", etc...
