Project title: MICROPOROUS PE MEMBRANES
Company name : POROTEC LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Separation & filtration
KEY WORDS
Membrane, Separation, Battery
Separator, Safety Shut Down, Drugs Delivery, Controlled Release
PROJECT SUMMARY
The developed technology is suitable for the production of low
gage polymeric membranes of high porosity and narrow pore size
distribution. These membranes feature high permeability and
thereby low flow resistance during filtering and separation. The
low melting point of polyethylene allows for closure of pores and
reduction of flow through them at elevated temperatures.
The process under development is simple, solvent-less and
produces high quality and uniform product.
MARKET
Batteries and fuel cells - above mentioned features make these
membranes suitable to serve as a separator in primary and
rechargeable batteries and accumulators. The high permeability
reduces internal resistance of the batteries and therefore
improves current flow. Closure of pores at elevated temperatures
meets the demand for the shut down property in Lithium-Ion
batteries, stops current flow, thereby reducing the risk of
ignition and explosion.
Medical & Pharmaceutical - In applications demanding selective
and controlled transmission of media.
ENTREPRENEURS
Mr. Meir Barg - Barg Enterprises.

Mr. Steve Leschinsky - Chief Engineer
PROJECT STATUS
The project has graduated from the incubator. The scientific
research of the project is at an advanced stage, lab samples have
been prepared and the development of the industrial process has
recently started. The initial testing of of the product is being
performed.
