PROJECT SUMMARY
The portable test pack tests for and identifies, qualitatively
and quantitatively, various materials of clinical importance,
such as poisons and chemical compounds. The system is intended
for use at sites where it is essential to obtain immediate and
accurate test results. The system incorporates two main
components: the portable testing device and a `calibrated
materials catalog', against which the results can be compared.
The time required to analyze the data and obtain results must be
a matter of seconds. The equipment is based on the "Time Resolved
Spectroscopy" technology, by which spectral identification of
various chemical compounds can be made through the correlation of
the test material's spectrum within the duration of its
fluorescence. The combination of a discharge spectrum with
real-time separation allows a high degree of selectivity. It
might also be possible to use additional technologies in order to
enlarge the catalog.

ADVANTAGES
The proposed technology has extremely rapid detection and
identification abilities, measured in seconds. The equipment to
be developed will be inexpensive, simple, and cheap to operate.

MARKET
Potential customers for this system include emergency rooms in
hospitals, police criminal investigation units, customers in the
field of discovery and identification of chemical weapons, the
chemical industry, supervisory and environmental protection
agencies, and drug rehabilitation services. For all these, speed
is of essence, as well as the ability to detect low
concentrations and to distinguish between similar compounds or
components, all with a high degree of reliability.

TERLITE LTD. was founded in August 1999. It has finished its
Incubator period and proceeding in development program at the
ROTEM Industrial Park.
