Project title: PUMPING TECHNOLOGY FOR TRANSFER OF SMALL QUANTITIES OF LIQUIDS

Company name : DIGIPUMP LTD.

TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Precision Mechanics

KEY WORDS
Piezo Electric Micro pump,
Low Dosage Liquid Delivery

PROJECT SUMMARY
A new technology for controlled and accurate transfer of small
quantities of liquids is under development. The technology is
based on the use of piezo-electric components to transfer the
liquids by peristaltic synchronized wave movement and upon
external control of these components. The transfer action
(affecting production speed) depends on exploitation of the
unique properties of the components, and thus wear-and-tear of
the pump motor is reduced. The components are lightweight and the
design is simple.

ADVANTAGES
Motor-less; no moving parts; Simple and convenient; Reliable and
accurate; Cost-effective; Supports active lifestyle.

MARKET
At this stage the most promising target applications seem to be
in the healthcare field. The current estimates for the global
market of pumps for the healthcare field are billion $, and is
expected to grow, especially in the ambulatory section, in line
with the increasing awareness for the quality of life of the
patient and the desire to reduce healthcare expenses. Highly
sophisticated and life-sustaining care is being delivered to
patients in long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and at
home. This market continues to grow since many patients prefer to
receive treatment in alternate sites than hospitals.
The uses for small, light-weight, user-friendly, easy to operate,
accurate, efficient and cost-effective pumps in the healthcare
field include, but are not limited to, delivery of Insulin,
pain-relievers, antibiotics and chemotherapy drugs, as well as
enthrall feeding.
The potential uses of the Digipump products are not limited to
the healthcare market only. Industrial uses include applications
in biotechnology and chemistry laboratories, gas and air
sampling, process control for the semiconductor industry etc.
While the basic concept of the pump is identical, the specific
details of the various functions of the pump may change according
to applications.
