Project title: MECHANICAL ENERGY ABSORBENT MATERIALS
Company name : WOOLLY METAL LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Materials
KEY WORDS
Mechanical Energy Absorbent,
Absorbent Materials, Metal Wool
PROJECT SUMMARY
WOOLLY METAL LTD. is developing a material which will absorb
mechanical energy from moving bodies during impact so that most
of the energy generated by the impact will be absorbed within a
wool-like pack, while any residual energy transmitted to the
body under protection will be minimal.
PRODUCTS
There are many applications in the following fields: packaging,
lifting & moving of objects & people, aviation, military,
transport & roads, etc.
ADVANTAGES
Control over all parameters linked to the production of the
material, including attainment of desired energy absorption
qualities. Use of metallic waste as input material, as well as
inexpensive production processes, will contribute to a relatively
low, competitive, price.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Density controlled by process, Low temperature process, Near net
shape products.
Other optional characteristics: Sound insulation, electromagnetic
shielding, antistatic protection and non flammability.
MARKETING
The development is in line with the world trend to search for
materials that can reduce heavy damage caused by collisions. It
will have numerous applications in which various bodies will be
protected against one-time critical impacts.
