Project title: MICRO LABEL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
Company name : *** MICRO-TAG TEMED LTD.
TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD
Electronics, Physics, Chemistry
KEY WORDS
RF Identification, Bar
Codes
PROJECT SUMMARY
In spite of all the existing protection systems the annual damage
caused by forgery and shoplifting, in the USA alone, is estimated
at tens of billion of dollars. The proposed RF identification
systems allow to provide better anti-forgery and anti-theft
protection as well as to reduce expenses for labeling individual
objects (paper, card or article). The possibility to write
invisible coded information, of up to tens of bits, makes the
systems competitive with the RFID systems based on microchip
labels.
The new generation of RF authentication and identification micro
label systems is based on different types of physical resonance
phenomena such as quadrupolar or mixed electron-nuclear resonance
etc. The system allows both simple "Yes-No" identification and
detection of coded data (bar code, frequency code, etc.).
The micro label is a substance, which possesses a strong specific
response to RF excitation. The working frequency depends on the
substance used and lies in the band of 10 MHz to several GHz.
This substance can be introduced into paint, ink, glue, paper or
plastic bulk and is invisible. For high protection levels the
substance itself can be protected or masked. The substance cost
doesn't exceed 0.1 US cent per label. The reliability of the
identification systems is provided by high sensitivity, specific
label substances and appropriate signal processing.
APPLICATION
AND MARKET
The basic applications of the aforementioned systems are:
identification of confidential papers (bank notes, checks,
passports etc.) and plastic cards; copyright protection; access
control; electronic article/personnel or customs surveillance
(anti-theft systems for retailers, remote detection of labeled
explosives etc.).
ENTREPRENEURS
Four scientists and engineers, highly skilled and experienced in
interdisciplinary areas ranging through research, applied R&D and
industry.
PROJECT STATUS
The company was founded at October 1993 as a part of the Advanced
Technologies Center at TEMED Park. Since 1996 it operates as an
independent company.
Three prototypes of a system for bank notes and credit card
identification and for copyright protection are ready for
production.
The systems for remote detection and frequency coding are in the
process of development.
COOPERATION REQUIRED
Investors and/or strategic cooperation (marketing and other
activities) in the fields of secret paper production, RFID or
access control industry etc.
